Description

The IN-14 (ИН-14 rus.)  glow gas discharge indicators are used in calculating and solving devices, in various measuring instruments and other discrete-action equipment, for visual representation of output data.

The IN-14 is one of the most popular Nixie tubes among hobbyists due to its availability, classic appearance, and manageable size.

On the IN-14 tube, the digit “5” looks like an upside-down “2” unlike the IN-18, IN-8, and IN-8-2 tubes, where the digit “5” has the correct shape.

Technical specifications:

  • Maintaining the discharge: no more than 150V

Working current:

  • Constant: from 2.5mA to 3.5mA
  • When powered from a pulsating voltage source with a frequency of: 50Hz – 1mA
  • The indication current: not more than 2.5mA

Operating time – at least 10,000 hours.

Identifying the anode: Pin 1 is the only pin with a white sheave (ceramic insulator) inside the tube. It also has an arrow marking on the base. The decimal point pins (2 and 13) are often removed by manufacturers and may be absent.

Recommended Driver ICs:
K155ID1 (Russian 74141 equivalent): High-voltage BCD-to-decimal decoder. Converts a 4-bit BCD input to one of 10 cathodes. This is the standard driver for IN-14 clocks.
